Conscientious Stupidity

It does not haunt you with a pair of hollow starving eyes
Or torn filthy ragged clothes, hung on a pair of skinny limbs.
It does not scream through the growls of an empty stomach
Nor does it shed its tears through a leaky roof.

It screams beating its chest.
A monster with hollow empty eyes,
It finds its home in the darkness;
In a destitute heart, devoid of kindness;
On a nascent mind, deprived of knowledge;
In a barren life, lack of rich experiences.

It seeks comfort in fear and hatred.
It thrives on rage and revenge.
Insecurity is it’s true essence.
In the illusion of superiority,
It confuses itself for the savior of humanity.
Hiding behind the facade of a protector,
Slave of its own ego,
It wreaks havoc, on everything it touches,
Turning words into deadly weapons,
Laughters into cries.
Friends become foes,
Neighborhoods; battlefields,
A peaceful Nation, a deadly war zone.

Yet, instead of fighting it,
It is fueled with despise.
It is nurtured with disgust.
It is propagated with ‘holier than thou’.

What good is the conscience, the so-called awareness,
When the hearts are closed to those who need compassion?
And the homes unwelcoming to those with different perspectives?
What good is the fortune then, if not shared?
Are you any different?
Are you not just the same?
Drowning in superiority of a different kind?

  1. If one plummets to such low levels of inhumanity, the joys of living are left untested. If the needs of a fellow being do not move one’s heart, one must examine if the heart is in the right place. Such a human being just wallows in his wealth like a buffalow does in a marsh.
