A Movie Review: Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny.

I watched the movie (by my favorite, Spielberg), with my grandsons Eshan, Ayaan and their parents at Cinemark  multiplex, they liked and enjoyed it. They were astounded with the aggressive and thrilling actions; the fight with the Germans, the clash in the library, the combat in & on the train, the scuffle under water, the struggle in aircraft, the Roman battle and….They leaned over on their seats and watched the chase; the lady in long strides running over the roof; the auto rickshaw pursuing the car, the police hounding the man riding the horse in the midst of a festive crowd… The mystery surrounding the ancient dial kept them in suspenseful animation right until the end! Both graded the picture 8/10!
For a while I enjoyed the movie directed by my favorite movie maker. I kept hoping that this picture like the previous ones by him, would raise my curiosity, trickle my romantic nerve, give me a few moments to feel a bit morose, leave a few impressions for later deliberations and appreciate the fine nuances of the movie direction. I am yet bemused and can not place my reactions! Am I disappointed? Mmm..it is a Spielberg movie and has to be good!

Eshan asked me to grade it. I told him 7/10

    1. Thank you Madan for your magnanimous generosity, it does take me back to my school days, when my English teacher Mr Ralph Mitchel had awarded 50/50 on a short story written by me!! Does it confirm something that I have been missing so far? It’s too late now!!

  1. I rarely see movies but your comments made me research the movie on the net. It seems full of action. And Spielberg is Spielberg.
Investigating ancient civilisations seems an exciting prospect.
I was also intrigued by the earlier Indians Jones film the Last Ark in which two Indian actors did some side roles Amrish Puri with his rich baritone voice and one by Roshan Seth.

    1. Yes this movie is filled with actions on the ground, in the air & the sea and even in caves! Unlike the previous Indiana Jones films the story line in this film is very thin & confusig. Spielberg left its direction to James Mangold. I enjoyed watching the Last Ark, Amrish Puri was very impressive & did justice to the role.
