Looking Towards Heaven

Nilofar Shameem born on 21 Feb may Allah bless her Heavenly abode

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

“But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is gardens, beneath which rivers flow” ( Quran 2:25).

As your birthday greets us We are reminded of you

Even more so today Of your graceful presence

And the hearty laughter Your thoughtful givings

And your loving embrace Your perseverance

Through life’s toughest moments Your fortitude That bore an unimaginable pain

Quietly and gracefully each day Still thinking of others instead

Is an inspiration for us who remain You left us with irreplaceable void

But imparted an example Of how to accept each day

As it comes, pleasure or pain Smiling and carrying on

With the hearty laughter And loving embrace.

Happy birthday Mummy!

Your Beti, Pooja Shameem

My Dadi was a very kind and loving lady. She would always make great food and help with my things. We would always watch some tv together. The food she made was always the best. She used to make Gajar Gosht, and I would be so excited to eat it. She also made great meat pulao; the mutton in the meat pulao was always cooked just right. One time Dadi and I went to the park and I got stung by a bee, she soothed me until I felt better.

She would also help me with my studies. She would help with my math homework. She was also very strong. A few years ago Dadi and Ayaan went on a walk. Ayaan was running and a dog started running after them. The dog jumped on Dadi and hurt her. But even though she was hurt she walked home like nothing happened.

I love you Dadi, Eshan Shameem

  2. Very touching & emotive poem, her absence has created a void difficult to fill. The entire family & the huge circle of friends sorely miss her. Good free flow of thoughts, keep writing Pooja.
