Din (Day)

मैं दिन हूँ आफ़्ताब मेरा मालिक है वह डूब जाये तो मैं खो जाता हूँ 

अँधेरा होते ही, बेचैनी से माहताब और रात को ताकता हूँ

बेक़रार रहता हूँ जल्द से इत्तेफ़ाक़ मिले मख्लूक़ की खिदमत का

मिल जाये  फ़ायदा सबको मेरे सूरज की तपिश और नूर  का

I am the day, Sun is my boss, if he sets then I disappear

As soon as it gets dark, I am anxious and stare at night and the 

moon

I remain eager to get an opportunity to serve the creation

May everyone get the benefit of my sun’s heat and light

लोग कहते हैं यह अच्छा और यह बुरा दिन है, मेरे ख़ालिक़ ने मुझे बनाया नहीं ऐसा

हर रोज़ मैं एक जैसा हूँ, कभी मौसम की तब्दीली से हो जाता हूँ वक़्तन ग़ैर मौक़ा

मुझे अच्छे या बुरे मुआनों की है न खबर  मैं तो सिर्फ एक दरमियान हूँ

यह सिर्फ रब के बन्दों पर मुनहसर है, मैं पाक या नजिस बनता रहूँ

People say this day good and this is a bad day, my creator did not make me like this

Every day I am the same, sometimes due to change of weather I become momentarily unpredictable

I do not know good or bad is, I am just an intermediary

It entirely depends on God’s men,  I become clean or dirty

लोग कहते हैं यह नेक दिन है, उन्होंने चाँद सितारों का जायज़ा किया

मुझे उन जन्नती सियारों से वास्ता ही नहीं, मुझे सिर्फ मेरे सूरज का सहारा मिला

मेरा कोई नहीं है हिस्सा या इमदाद किसीकी पैदाइश या शादी के होने में 

ना ही मैं करसकता हूँ कोई भी असर उनकी मुस्तक़बिल में

People say it’s a good day, they reviewed the moon and stars

I do not have any clout with those heavenly bodies, I only got support from my sun

I have no part in anyone’s birth or marriage

Nor do I have any influence in their future

मैं हूँ दिन, मुझे हफ्ता, महीना, साल और सदी में गिनते हो

हमेशा कई नाम और ख़बरें इन्ही से सब कुछ याद करते हो

तुम्हे यक़ीन है तुम्हारी अकलमंदी इसी निज़ाम में है

मुझे ऐतेराज़ नहीं अगर इन तारीखों का सही असर तुमपर है

I am day, you count me in week, month, year and century

Always many names and news everything you remember from them

You are sure of your wisdom is in this system

I do not mind if these dates have right affect on you

करते हो शोर और गुल जब आता है कोई माज़ी के हादसे का दिन 

मनाते हो धूम धाम से हर साल अपने बहादुरी की शोहरत का दिन 

उलझने बढ़ जाती हैं शमीम साथ में सालगिरह, नए साल की मुबारकबादी पाकर 

करता हर दिन है ऐलान बेरहमी से तुम्हारे उम्र घटने की खबर 

You shout and yell on the day on some incident happened in the past 

Celebrate every year with great pomp the glory the prestige and bravery on the day it happened,   

Complications keep on increasing Shameem when you also get birth anniversary, Happy New Year congratulations  

Every day keeps announcing ruthlessly the news about your declining age
