“Nest of snakes” was the meaning given to the word Cancun, for some, it’s true spoken meaning is, “Place of the Golden Snake.” However, by a more milder name it is now called “Place of the four lagoons.” Cancun is a city located in Mexico. We spent a week there; while Baqar with his family arrived from Delaware, Sabila with her family from Boston and Jafar and his family along with me dropped in from Seattle (map refers).
The holiday rush defied all concerns relating to Covid 19 and the Omicron virus; the rush at the airport made us wait for over two hours for immigiration clearance.
While travelling in the van from the airport to our hotel Wyndham Altra, I found that the road with the trees lined on both sides and on the space paritioning them, were similar to those in the suburbs in the USA. As we passed along I noticed that on one side of the road were the hotels hugging the sea beach. I was told by the driver that along the road there were as many as 80 hotels each competing to attract the tourists. Cancun, perhaps is one among other tourist regions which offer safety, security, leisure, entertainment, peace and tranquility to a large number of persons from the USA and Canada who spend their vacations here. Nearly 8% of the county’s revenue is from tourism.
On arrival at the hotel I paused at the entrance, to admire the miniture tableau having statues in the pretty landscape, depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. It was Christmas Day!
Wyndham Altra is a fairly large hotel primarily encouraging tourist families to enjoy their hospitality. The entire week stay in the hotel was very comfortable. I personally enjoyed the freedom to eat and drink what I wanted, served at any time of the day by the hotel staff. The message was to relax and enjoy with no ouward hinderance causing tension or stress. The first day was spent on the sea shore and in the swimming pool.

The next day we were picked up and taken to the Park for the exciting, All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) drive. The ATV ride was maddening as we drove over the undulating path filled with protruding rocks, deep ditches with water, soft soil, and steep climbs.
It appeared that the Park’s natural ecology and habitat has not been disturbed, the pond has water and the torrentuva remains undisurbed. The torrentuva did cause anxiety in the mind of the youngest member of the family. I decided to have a chat with the insect in her presence in the cave.
This was my first experience with the Zipline, which looked ominous, connecting the stands amongst the trees. The cables hung over great heights; a fall would certainly be hurtful. Fortunately the entire family, young, teen and middle aged and old one like me completed the circuit successfully. A worthwhile experience enjoyed by everyone.
More to follow; please keep watching
A very nice family holiday at Cancun. But US being such a vast country with vast spaces and a small population, do the Americans have to go with a vengeance to Mexico?

Thank you. At this time of the year the temperatures are quite low in Canada & Northern parts of America. Mexico has sunshine and well developed sea resorts which are comparitively more economical and hospitable.

With every thing which seems to be building within this specific area, your points of view are generally quite stimulating. Even so, I appologize, but I do not subscribe to your entire idea, all be it exciting none the less. It appears to everybody that your comments are not entirely justified and in actuality you are your self not totally convinced of the assertion. In any case I did take pleasure in reading it.
